The Imbokodo Fire Training Container

Realistic Training. Controlled Conditions. Heavy-Duty Construction.

Effective fire training requires more than a classroom.

The Imbokodo Fire Training Container is a purpose-built modular training facility designed to create realistic fire, smoke, confined-space and emergency-response scenarios in a controlled training environment.

Constructed from a combination of 20ft and 10ft shipping containers, the units are connected using a specialist joining system to create a larger integrated training facility.

With multiple entry points, elevated platforms, access hatches, internal and external stairways and heavy-duty doors, the layout can be configured to challenge trainees with different access and evacuation scenarios.

Built for Realistic Fire Training

The Imbokodo Fire Training Container is designed to replicate challenging environments that emergency-response personnel may encounter during real-world incidents.

The external structure incorporates a number of specialist training features, including:

  • Multiple access and entry points
  • Roof access hatches
  • Web-forge roof platforms
  • Internal staircases
  • External staircases
  • Heavy-duty doors
  • Smoke-machine entry point
  • Simulated electrical meter box
  • Bollards for harness and safety-equipment training
  • Multiple training zones
  • Custom roof configurations

The roof can also be configured in different sections to create contrasting environments. The example design incorporates one corrugated metal roof section and one tiled roof section.

Low-Visibility Training Environment

The interior and exterior surfaces of the training unit can be finished with fire-resistant coatings, with the example unit finished in jet black.

The dark finish helps create a low-visibility training environment, allowing instructors to develop scenarios where trainees must navigate unfamiliar or visually restricted conditions.

The exact coating system and fire-training configuration should be selected according to the intended training method, equipment and applicable safety requirements.

Modular Training Facility

The unit consists of:

  • 1 x Modified 20ft Shipping Container
  • 1 x Modified 10ft Shipping Container
  • Custom Container Joining System
  • Web-forge elevated platforms
  • Roof access hatches
  • Internal and external staircases
  • Heavy-duty training doors
  • Smoke-machine inlet
  • Simulated meter box
  • Harness-training bollards
  • Mixed roof configuration
  • Fire-resistant coating system
  • Custom internal training areas

The robust steel construction allows the facility to remain positioned at a training site, subject to appropriate site foundations, anchoring, fire-safety controls and local requirements.

Applications

The Imbokodo Fire Training Container can be configured for a range of professional training environments, including:

  • Fire and rescue services
  • Industrial fire teams
  • Mining operations
  • Construction companies
  • Emergency-response teams
  • Occupational health and safety training
  • Confined-space training
  • Rescue training
  • Industrial emergency drills
  • Security and emergency personnel
  • Petrochemical and industrial facilities
  • Municipal training facilities
  • Private training organisations

It can also be incorporated into a larger emergency-response training centre.

Designed Around Your Training Programme

A shipping container provides a strong modular foundation, but the real value comes from designing the facility around the scenarios you need your trainees to practise.

African Containers Hub can work with you to develop a training environment that supports controlled, repeatable and realistic emergency-response exercises.

For live-fire or smoke-based exercises, the final design should incorporate the appropriate professional fire-training systems, ventilation, emergency controls, instructor procedures and safety measures required for the intended use.

Build Your Custom Fire Training Unit

Whether you need a compact confined-space training module or a larger multi-container emergency-response facility, African Containers Hub can develop a solution around your requirements.
