The Braai Shack Container

The Braai Shack Container

An Outdoor Entertaining Area Built from a Shipping Container

Turn a simple shipping container into an entertaining destination.

The Braai Shack Container transforms a compact shipping container into a stylish outdoor gathering space, combining a built-in braai area, serving bar, seating and outdoor decking into one practical and highly distinctive structure.

Perfect for South African outdoor living, this concept can be used at homes, lodges, guest farms, hospitality venues, entertainment areas, events, sports clubs and commercial properties.

Whether you’re creating a dedicated braai area beside a swimming pool or developing a larger outdoor entertainment space, a modified shipping container provides a strong and secure foundation for the project.

How Is the Braai Shack Container Built?

The concept starts with a 10ft New Build Shipping Container, which is modified to create an open and inviting entertainment area.

Large portals are cut into the container walls to create openings for serving and entertaining. Heavy-duty window frames can then be installed and fitted with storm-hatch-style shutters, creating a rugged coastal and outdoor aesthetic.

The exterior can be finished with a deliberately distressed or weathered appearance to complement an outdoor setting.

A floating deck system can be constructed around two sides of the container, providing additional space for guests and creating a natural transition between the container and the surrounding outdoor area.

The deck can be finished with a Merbau face plate, while a hardwood bar is installed through one of the container openings to create a dedicated serving area.

Add a built-in or freestanding braai, outdoor seating and your preferred entertainment features—and you’ve got a compact containerised entertainment venue.

The Braai Shack can be designed as a permanent installation or developed as part of a wider modular entertainment project.

Its robust construction and modular design make it an attractive option for creating a distinctive outdoor facility without constructing an entire conventional building.
